Sunseeker the British builder has now teamed up with Icon Yachts of Dutch yard to build a superyacht of 49-meter aluminum. The announcement regarding the Sunseeker 161 was made at the Monaco Yacht Show and represents the first foray of British company into metal built yachts. The yacht is set to launch in the 2021 spring.
For the British yard, This yacht will show a “different method of building”. The yacht will have five cabins in which it will accommodate 10 guests. However, there is scope present to accommodate 12 guests as well and it depends on the chosen interior layout. Yacht interior will be styled according to its owner’s tastes. The other key features like the spacious plunge pool and beach club and will be on the main deck.
Sean Robertson, the Sunseeker sales director, said, “This new concept was born from the ambition of the company to build big size vessels for some time. Explaining why the company joined hands with the Dutch builder Icon Yachts, he said “A switch to metal means there is no limitation how big we can go in the coming time, but certainly, this needs different expertise and therefore, it becomes important for us to find a right partner who can support the project.
“Searching a yard that has the same progressive and innovative spirit to build something special and flexible was the challenge. We certainly found this in Icon.” Jen Wartena, Icon chief executives agreed that this is a great synergy between both the companies.
